On Cloudmonster 3 Men – Pelican | Squash

The Cloudmonster 3 is On's everyday trainer for runners who want plenty of shoe under them without losing the rolling ride the line is known for. Version 3 brings back the rockered, propulsive feel of the original Cloudmonster and keeps the cushioning of the second. The real change is underfoot: three layers of CloudTec® in dual-density Helion™ foam, for a softer landing and a livelier toe-off. A shoe you can put most of your weekly kilometres in, from easy runs to steady efforts.

Ride & fit

Cushioned but not mushy. The rocker does a lot of the work, so the transition feels smooth and quick even at easy pace. The forefoot is fairly stiff, and the heel Clouds compress more than you'd expect, so it runs lower than its 6 mm drop on paper. The upper holds the midfoot more securely than the previous version. Regular fit, true to size.

Technology

CloudTec® – the hollow pods under the sole. They compress on landing, then lock to give a firm platform to push off from. Stacking three layers gives more travel than previous versions.

Helion™ – On's foam blend. Dual-density here: softer where you land, firmer where you need stability and rebound.

Speedboard® – a flexible plate in the midsole that stores energy as the shoe bends and helps with the roll forward.
